Shakila & Jey’s Wedding at Fenix Events
The super sweet wedding ceremony for Jey and Shakila took place indoors at the gorgeous riverside setting of Fenix Events in Richmond. The brief – fun and relaxed – and along with all their favourite wedding peeps, it was all that and more!1
Shakila was an absolute vision as she entered before their many family and friends who were buzzing with excitement to witness the celebration of their marriage.
At the sight of his wife-to-be making her way towards him down the aisle, Jey was understandably overcome with raw emotion
This was the moment each had dreamt of for so long.
And so I took their family and friends on a journey recapping how these two came to be. It was a through a mutual friend that Jey had heard wonderful things about Shakila, and one look at a photo of this stunning lady – he was all in! He knew without doubt he had to get to know her! And so after many texts and phone calls over the ensuing weeks, the decision was made to finally meet up – face to face.
Wanting to make a positive first impression, Jey went to considerable length to get advice from those around him as to where they should meet. Playing it safe, they decided on coffee after work on a Friday night … but thanks to Melbourne traffic, Shakila was over an hour late. Regardless, Jey waited…. and when she finally arrived he greeted her with a beautiful bunch of flowers and a big ol’ smile! They talked effortlessly – well Shakila did most of the talking! BUT she could still tell that Jey was kind and had a good heart. As she continued to lead the conversation, Jey sat there: cool, calm and collected – speechless. He knew he had met her. The girl he was going to spend the rest of his life with. She kept him at ease, she was intelligent, funny and most importantly, a good, genuine person. He knew this was it. Shakila was ‘the one’.
Over the last two years they’ve bought their first family home and have travelled together. Just being in each others’ company is its own pure perfection – along with enjoying the simple pleasure in life like hanging out on the couch, eating yummy take away, wine in hand, watching a movie.
Jey says Shakila has a heart of gold and is the most caring person he has ever known. He knows that just by being around her and sharing a life with her, makes him a better person. He loves her reaction when he mentions the word “Bunnings” or “plant shopping” – knowing full well she doesn’t like either – but will go with him anyway if he asks. That’s love right there! He says coming home to her cuddles makes him smile and completes his day, knowing all is right in their world.
Shakila describes Jey as ambitious and his love for life infectious. He only has to organise a surprise dinner date or buy flowers for no reason to put a big ol’ smile on her face. And even though his obsession with Bunnings and buying plants is somewhat annoying, he loves dogs and so does she so it evens out! Shakila loves that Jey always encourages her to be the very best version of herself, and is always supportive of all her endeavours. She loves his quirky sense of humour, odd interests, and fun facts about life. Most of all, she loves his ability to make her feel so calm; with Jey she feels at home, and wherever he is, is where her heart lies.
For Shakila and Jey, this celebration was all about bringing their family and friends together – to share with them the most magical moment in their lives – their wedding day.
They proudly walked back up the aisle to loud clapping and cheers of congratulations ….
….. and you couldn’t wipe the “we just got married!” smiles off their faces! As it should be.
Allow me to introduce to you all the new Mr and Mrs Ramathasan! Two of the nicest, funniest and most gentle souls I’ve ever has the privilege of meeting – may the world hold great things for you both xx
