James & Ben’s Metropolis Event

Ben & James are two of the nicest, kindest, most loving souls you’ll ever meet. They wear their hearts on their sleeves, and it was an absolute thrill to be their celebrant and fulfil their dream to be married on home soil here in Melbourne at the stunning Metropolis Events.

Together they share a passion for food and wine, and love nothing more than to simply grab a coffee on the weekend and take a walk. They love  to explore and experience life, both here and abroad, and wholeheartedly believe that life is one big adventure.

It was 4 years ago when Ben popped the question. He knew he wanted to do it whilst they were away overseas, and thought he’d ask James during their first stop in London – what better way to start the trip, he thought. But wise words from James’ dad kept playing over and over in his head…. “it’d be a shit trip if he said no”….

True that. So Ben waited.

Half way in to their 4 week European getaway, they found themselves in the city of champagne, cheese, croissants, cobblestone streets, amazing architecture and of course, love!  Paris.  And it was here that Ben proposed – and James gladly accepted.

Their engagement 4 years ago, was evidence of their very real intention and desire to marry. Two people in love, wholeheartedly committed to one another, wanting to spend the rest of their lives in a union of marriage. Ben and James made a conscious decision to wait until Australia recognised true equality, so they could share such a special and momentous occasion in their lives with family and friends. When the marriage laws changed – it meant they could finally make their dream  a reality.

And what a ceremony it was! Metropolis Events was the perfect venue, and Floretta by Grace did a superb job in creating a space that felt warm and intimate. The ceremony was full of love, happy tears and heartfelt emotion…captured so beautifully by the  super talented and very lovely Miranda Stokkel.

…. felt not just by Ben and James but also many family and friends

When it came to exchanging rings, Ben and James chose to highlight what the rings they currently wear meant to them. They bought them in Paris after their engagement, and have been proudly worn ever since.  Now when they look at them, they not only take them back to that perfect Spring day in Paris, but now they also remind them of that perfect Autumn day in Melbourne when they married.

It was a pretty special moment to be the one to declare them both husbands for life – something they had both been looking forward to hearing for a very long time.

It was such a thrill to be a part of James and Ben’s wedding, but more importantly I have gained two new friends for the experience. Their kind words of thanks mean the world to me.

Wow- where to start. We are so grateful to have met Michelle. She was simply spectacular from our very first meet ~ 8 months before our big day.

Fun, genuine, humble, down-to-earth celebrant who made our experience such a joy.

From our initial catch ups over a glass of vino to on the big day- Michelle had it all covered!

We had full confidence and comfort every step of the way.

Michele didn’t just wow us, but our nearest and dearest too! All the feedback from our family and friends included..

– Best ceremony they had been to
– Your celebrant was absolutely brilliant! Where did you find her!?
– Michelle set the feel/ mood for the rest of the night
– Michelle was incredible, just incredible
– What a fantastic job Michelle did taking guests on the Ben & James journey- the story telling was a perfect touch of detail creating a unique and engaging ceremony
– So much love

From the bottom of our hearts- thanks so much Michelle!

Could not have dreamt for anything more.

We are truely honoured to have had Michelle as our celebrant.
